The live-action film adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's 'Look Back' one-shot manga has unveiled a new trailer, revealing more cast members and its September 11 opening date in Japan. The trailer showcases the film's cast, including Masaki Suda as Maeda, a Weekly Shōnen Jump manga editor, and Kankurō Kudō as Tamai, a grade school teacher. Other cast members include Kayo Noro as Akari, Fujino's mother, Ryō Ikeda as Nishi, Fujino's father, Miyu Sasaki as Megumi, Fujino's older sister, Maho Yamada as Manabe, a middle school teacher, and GKIDS will release the film in theaters in 2026 in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Ireland. The film is directed and edited by Hirokazu Kore-eda, who is also writing the screenplay, and features music composed by Yūta Bandō. The film's staff includes Senzo Ueno for photography, Masachio Nishida for lighting, Kazuhiko Tomita for sound, Shinsuke Kojima for art direction, Sachiko Ito for costume design, Katsuhiko Yūmi for hair and makeup supervision, Kensei Nakayama for assistant director, Ryōko Taguchi for scripter, Toshie Tabata and Yōko Yamashita for casting, Rinto Ueda for VFX supervisor, and Shinichi Muraoka for line producer. The live-action film follows the anime film adaptation of Fujimoto's 'Look Back' one-shot manga, which opened in theaters in Japan in June 2024 and ranked at #2 in terms of ticket sales in its opening weekend. The anime film sold 135,000 tickets and earned 227 million yen in its first three days. GKIDS screened the film in North America in October 2024, earning US$688,253 at the U.S. box office in its opening weekend. The one-shot manga was debuted on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ in July 2021 and had over 2.5 million views on its first day. Viz Media and MANGA Plus launched the manga digitally in English, and Viz Media published the manga in print in September 2022. The story follows the overly confident Fujino and the shut-in Kyomoto, who are brought together by their love of drawing manga, and explores their journey of growing up and moving forward.
